Speed Management by Individual Road Limits
Individual Road Speed available via Handheld Device Tracking
Thought to be the preserve of a select few vehicle tracking companies, Romex World have clarified that speed management measured of individual road speeds is available via the Romex's Team Fix mobile phone or PDA tracking software.
For many service engineering or home delivery companies, the time spent on roads where the national speed limit applies can be sub-twenty percent. The vast majority of their time spent is in an urban environment which limits the effectiveness of vehicle tracking software that can only measure road speeds above the national limit of 70mph.
Jason Laight, Sales Director comments "The dangers caused by a speeding driver at 80 or 90mph on a motorway or dual carriageway are just as relevant, or arguably more so, as a driver at 40 in a 30mph zone. Our web-delivered application our customers receive precise information on individual driver behaviour at all times on all roads. Measuring speed relative to local speed restrictions in the format we do is unique to our product set".
The level of speed at which speed limits are enforced remains at the discretion of individual police forces. The Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) Guidelines suggest that court proceedings should commence for a driver travelling at 96mph in a 70mph. The same guidelines suggest court action should be taken for drivers travelling at 35mph in a 20mph zone or 50mph in a 30mph and are an indication of how serious speeding in low speed zones is considered by the ACPO.
"The potential damage to a company's brand and the risk placed on profitability caused by a vehicle speeding in a low speed zone is a risk that can be mitigated and managed by protecting employees via tracking their phone, PDA or ruggedised device" continues Laight "With the Romex MyFix software, speed is only one of the elements monitored by the off-the-shelf product suite. We provide the toolset to implement a robust health & safety package for fleets of all sizes".
"We firmly believe that technology will play an increasing role in the corporate environment educating the whole organisation on the behavioural changes required to make our roads safer" Laight concluded.
Using software downloaded onto a GPS enabled mobile phone working hours, destinations and time spent driving can all be monitored, alongside vehicle speed, demonstrating that handheld monitoring provides the most comprehensive duty of care package.
Romex World software is able to detect when the user is in a vehicle journey or not which negates the need for an IVU (In Vehicle Unit) which is fixed and hard wired and cannot monitor the mobile worker when they are not in their vehicle. This enables in-Vehicle and non-vehicle elements to be to be monitored compiling an excellent audit trail and a safe and secure mobile working environment that can assist in the protection of both the employee and company during every mile and at every step.
