Romex Can Help Resolve Potential Expense Issues

According to recent research from GlobalExpense, a fifth of company drivers admit to exaggerating expense claims. Fleet managers have found that out of all expenses, business mileage is the most likely to be exaggerated.

With the new off the shelf software recently launched by Romex, the Mobile Application Service Provider (MASP), an accurate record of all mileage is recorded through the MyFix and TeamFix software. This software is made up of two parts – MyFix, loaded into the mobile team’s Smartphones and using the latest GPS technology with Google Maps, and TeamFix a true web-enabled interface that feeds the required information direct to the relevant operative. Features include pinpoint location mapping, speed monitoring (by road), arrival and departure from customer sites and the identification of resources closest to customer locations. The modular architecture of the software enables businesses to converge their technology and utilise their existing assets thus giving natural cost reduction to multiple business solutions.

With 76% of those drivers surveyed agreeing that exaggerating expense claims was ‘acceptable’ when the mileage rate paid by an employer doesn’t cover the actual car and fuel costs the temptation to falsify claims clearly exists.

Sales director of Romex, Jason Laight suggests that this isn’t going to go away in the near future. “The further the country falls into recession and people feel the pinch, the more employees are being tempted to exaggerate their expenses,” he said. “With our simple applications, all the information required can be fed back to Head Office recording all details of each journey and its associated mileage. This will prevent any potential false claims made by drivers.” More interesting Laight continues; “At an average of 40p per mile on mileage claims, companies only need to identify 1.5 miles per day per employee to more than pay for the Romex World solution!”
