Motorists caught using mobile phones hits record high


INTRODUCTION:

Industry leading publication Fleet News recently published an article that showed that more than 10,000 vehicles were stopped by police in a week-long mobile phone blitz in November 2016.

The results of this blitz were terrifying:

  • 36 police forces took part in the campaign
  • resulting in over 7,800 fixed penalty notices and hundreds of verbal warnings being issued as well as 68 court summons

THIS IS THE HIGHEST EVER WEEKLY TOTAL FOR MOBILE PHONE DISTRACTION WHILE DRIVING!

CONCLUSION:

Driving while using a hand-held mobile phone is not only illegal, it is incredibly dangerous. There will be further police blitz's in 2017 as the police work hard to make people think twice about their driving habits.
